Ma Integration – Managing the Integration of Work Streams

Ma integration is a mathematical process that employs the integral formula in order to calculate the areas of objects that have different dimensions. In engineering and physics it is used to determine the center of gravity as well as the mass moments of inertia as well as kinetic energy for moving objects. It can also be useful in other fields such as determining the speed of an object and finding its trajectory.

To manage the integration of workstreams you require a committed and visible leader and clear communication processes. Conflicting cultures are a common cause of integration failure, such as shifting from an acute care mentality to a population-based vision (Hardy and others). 1999; Coburn, 2001). A successful integration requires leaders to advocate and promote a consistent vision throughout the organization, while also creating an environment that promotes it.

Loss of key talent is one of the most significant risks of integration. Inability to address culture issues and the inconsistency between new organizational structures management, leadership and the organization causes high-performing executives to move to other opportunities. This loss can be averted by making sure that the leadership team stays intact throughout the transition, and by establishing a system to identify high-performing employees that is based on their talent rather than seniority.

Internal newsletters and project management tools and interactive platforms are useful for letting stakeholders know how progress is going on integration milestones and allowing stakeholders to give feedback. Meetings with stakeholders are a great method of communicating, maintaining momentum, and build trust and engagement. Regular updates keep employees engaged throughout the process and explain how the integration has improved the results of the business and added shareholder value.
